School Photo/GraphicOld Dominion University is located in Norfolk, Virginia, a city of 270,000. Norfolk has a warm southern climate and is only 20 minutes from the ocean resort of Virginia Beach. The English Language Center offers six seven-week sessions each year. Each week, full-time students spend at least 20 hours in class studying grammar, reading/vocabulary, listening/speaking, and writing. The ELC has a fully equipped language lab where students spend time outside of class watching videotaped lectures, working with pre-recorded audio tapes, and utilizing the latest in CD-ROM computer-assisted instruction. A special course in TOEFL preparation is available to upper level students. Electives and conversation partners are available each term...
